Just when the characters from Avatar, the lost Airbender thought they would never end up in an Artrix's take on..., WHAM! Here it is folks.
This project was massive. Nine individually-drawn characters, slammed together and shaded and shaded and effects'd until the final result. To make things worse, Azula just had to show off her 1337 lightning skillz, so I had to shade all that white-blueish glow as well.
Excluding the actual series, I had three inspirations for this piece, being Pete Philly and Persquisite, this piece and that piece.
The music inspired me to make something, well, hop-hoppy, jazzy, swingy, something along those lines. I mean, it's so logical, the ancient Asian type setting of the show combined with this modern day lifestyle... makes perfect sense!
The first piece displays a drawing style that I always wanted to try, but never got to do it in an actual piece.
And the last piece is just awesome, and it also shows a great combination of near-cell-shading and colored outlines.
So mix those together, and this is what you get. And remember, it's an Artrix's take on..., which means that it's not supposed to be an exact copy of the original character designs. This is most evident in Sokka's exaggerated head or Katara's pointy "hair loopies".
I could talk about this for approximately 23.7 minutes, but I'll stick to this description. One last note for you Avatards: I am no "shipper" and any "ship" you might discover in this picture will be entirely the result of your own imagination.
Yea, there is a lot wrong in this picture, as it is 5 years old. This was made just as I was dragging myself out of my personal art ghetto period and was trying to find myself as an artist.
I actually have all the characters as separate images, but I'm too lazy to do anything with it.
