I Forgive You by TheArtrix I Forgive You by TheArtrix
This image is commissioned by *UnseenVision

The idea for this one is pretty straight forward; Rarity and Sweetie Belle embrace each other after what is presumably an argument. Tears roll down down their cheeks as they realize just how much they love and appreciate one another. Had quite a lot of fun with this one, experimenting with the shading and setting up this dramatic atmosphere.

Without further ado, enjoy.

Thank you. I know you are the commissioner and everything and you wouldn't had commissioned me if you didn't like my art, but it is still reassuring.

Boy?! She's just as cute as usual!

I bet they did this at some private moment after the Sisterhooves Social episode.

I know, right? Maybe it's the drawing style that's throwing them off; they'll probably realize that they look perfectly feminine compared to the way I draw guys :\

And yes, this is intended intended to be related to the Sisterhoof Social episode.

And a follow up reply states that Rarity looks like a man as well. Sure, she has tits and broad hips, but the face isn't generic anime-same-face enough so all is ruined.

It's times like these I have to remind myself that I should not be out to please everyone, because it cannot be done.

true, so true.

i'm not a pleaser either tbh, the only reason i do canon characters is to get watchers and views. i prefer doing my OC since it comes straight to the heart. it's a shame people are not open to other styles of drawing, and because anime/manga is so incredibly overrated i actually started to dislike it. i prefer doing something original like you,ric-m and glanco. you guys are my heroes. manga is cool and all but after a while it gets dull...

Of course, one should do art because of their desire to express themselves. It's really nice if people appreciate it, but it should be the act of creating it that drives an artist to do what they do. Of course, this can be tricky when doing things on assignment, but a piece of art that has been made without a sense of passion tends to have no soul.

Generally, the animes that I have watched and liked all tends to try and do something new with the medium. It is to say, you can have an anime that is visually different, but they are a dime in a dozen. But I do get the impression that anime is imprinting a standard for feminine beauty that is hard to deviate from, as any deviation (not as in an entry on deviantART) is either labeled as "male" or "tumblr" or just plain ugly. I mean, just look at a character like April O'Niel; that was what most kids were exposed to in the 90s.

So that's why I appreciate the efforts of artists like ~GlancoJusticar and *Ric-M, not forgetting to mention ~thelivingmachine02 and `emlan, for applying their own vision to their work, I may not always agree on their artistic choices, but dammit, it is uniquely theirs.

:iconclapplz: well said good sir

While I have nothing against anime or manga style, I understand the frustration about it when it comes to art. Honestly, artists like you, Glanco, Ric, tlm02, etc. your styles really stick in my mind when I think about MLP humanizations. I like most MLP humanized art even if it's completely in manga style, but they are dime a dozen and sometimes to me doesn't feel...genuine? Not sure if that's the right word but what I mean is they aren't what I'd imagine when I think of MLP in human form. Now YOU guys on the other hand, whenever I imagine MLP as humans I can totally envision in my mind you guys styles or any combo of my other favorite MLP humanizers :3 because it's just so  DAMN REFRESHING to see unique styles!

You guys have your own vision and I love it that you take certain things you like and branch out to develop a style, rather than feeding off the same trends like anime over and over and over again.

and p.s. sometimes ppl just want to be jerks on Equestra Daily. that, or they're just young and immature and anime is all they know :c

Interesting read. You make a good point that the overabundance of manga-styled humanizations make them seem less genuine, that is to day, they may have been made with all the passion in the world, but the perception is diminished by other works that look too similar. The only thing that really sets them apart is the artists' choice of clothing, ethnicity, whether they are horned or winged and the pose.

I've seen enough how-to-draw-manga books and tutorials to know that manga-style drawings are something one needs to master, and I certainly appreciate the effort. My work has elements of manga in it, and my work has been described as such on several occasions, but I'm really just searching for my own voice.

And yes, the perceived anonymity on drawfriend posts can bring out some brutal honesty out of people. Same for places like 4chan. Sometimes it's useful, other times it's just one person who just doesn't like it.
