MLP:fim - Pinkie Pie by TheArtrix MLP:fim - Pinkie Pie by TheArtrix
Pinkie Pie, putting the P back in pink since 2010!

Pinkie Pie is, in my opinion, an acquired taste. Initially, she may come a bit over the top, but then you realize just how much fun this character is in voice acting and animation. Almost everything she does in ridiculous in one way or another. Pinkie Pie is proof that female characters can be extremely funny without trading away her femininity or resorting to turning her into a punching bag (not to say that I don't find that funny, even though it doesn't work for the former).

This was incredibly fun to draw, and the fact that she takes up most space just tells you how extroverted she is.

Yeah, she definitely came off way too strong at first, but she's grown on me.

I find there are time when I like and dislike PP but it depends on how the episode was written. I think my least favorite episode was 'Feeling Pinkie Keen' mainly because even after the lesson of being told to not just brush others off or their belifes, the Pinkie Sense just disappears. It was a device used to bring in a heavy handed lesson if you ask me, especially after the Swarm of the Century episode which did a much better job as using Pinkie as a lesson of listening to others. FPK was just pretentious to me. The Griffon Brushoff was the best episode with Pinkie thought because it showed me that she could harbor other emotions other than being a total spaz and her idea of a revenge was actually clever; she wasn't going to out Gilda by being a bitch back to her but rather, she just wanted to show Gilda that despite all she had done in Ponyvill, she was willing to give her a second chance. Gilda's own nature is what outted her and that was sweet justice to me.

Still, Pinkie is a good character, even if she is an add on from the former Generation of MLP. I love her designs and even though she can come off as over the top at times, there are certain things she does to make you laugh. (Like her constant appearing and reappearing in last week's episode. The part where she appeared in the MIRROR made me do a WTF-double take)

Yea, the moral in Feeling Pinkie Keen was kind of odd and it didn't felt as it fit in the lessons we learned up to this point. Twilight was being a crappy scientist and Pinkie's powers were much like a plot device that is never mentioned again. And even in context of this episode, a better moral could've been devised instead of this "If you don't understand it, just accept it".

Still, I too regard Pinkie as one of my favorite characters who never ceases to amuse me. She's just so, well, animated, something I really like in an animated show.

The thing I love is that she is well animated in a Flash show. I have to say that the new MLP series and Dan vs gives me hope that animators are finally starting to use Flash for all its worth rather than to create cheap and poorly animated cartoons. The fact that Pinkie can be so bouncy and move a lot in a program where people hardly use the notion of in-betweens is amazing to me.

Of the lot, Pinkie Keen was my least favorite because it was a moral that didn't allow anyone else to take their view point and in the end, it just said Pinkie was right for no other reason than Twighlight being a jerk and Pinkie being weirder than normal. The basic fact that if Pinkie DID have this power, they could have avoided many things that happened in earlier episodes and to see that its never used again was just so...cheap. Its like the episode told people that you can never attempt to see things the other way even if you don't feel comfortable with it which was rather jarring for a show like this.

On another note, I love the little bouncy sounds Pinkie makes when she hops. I think its so cute. :D

I love that mix-and-match outfit

Wearing a dress over pants and a t-shirt is definitely a fashion-statement

Pinkie Pie doesn't believe in fashion statements.

*** *theartrix sees latest episode.

Em, I stand corrected.
