My Little Pony Origins by TheArtrix My Little Pony Origins by TheArtrix
For the best viewing experience, it is highly recommended to listen to this while viewing this deviation.

This is probably not going to come as a surprise to most of you, but I absolutely love the art direction in the latest Rayman game; Rayman Origins. From start to finish, the game is oozing with creativity, and you can see that the developers had a lot of fun creating the game. If you haven't played Rayman Origins, you like good platformers and you own one of the major consoles, go get it, you will not be disappointed.

So it was only a matter of time before I started to draw the ponies in the game's art style during my warm ups. And man, the art style is incredibly fun to emulate. Don't think too much, have fun with it and be silly. What, that's not proper pony anatomy? Rainbow Dash's wings are too small? It's Rayman, nothing makes sense!

And as a preemptive measure; players can whack each other senseless in the game, it's all in good nature and is what makes the game incredibly fun to play with friends.

Well, I slapped a background behind it and here it is for your childish amusement.

If they created a MLP console game I bet that they would ask for a cheap game developer to create their game and then it would suck :(
The only game they have is a iPhone game if I'm not mistaken, it seems like a  ... well... playable game? I don't know, I never played it!
By the way, I don't know if you know but there was a game being developed by the bronies that looked really amazing (MLP Fighting is Magic) but because of Hasbro they had to cancel it :/
Anyway, If I saw a MLP game with Origins art style I would buy in the launch day!  :iconrainbowdashsquealplz:

The Ubiart engine, as far as I know, is meant to make development super easy and intuitive for artists. Of course, you still need a studio to actually do it, either Ubisoft themselves or a 3rd party developer that knows how to work the engine and has a good track record for platform games, which isn't that much.

Yes, thus far Hasbro's only foray into gaming with the MLP:FiM franchise are the mini-games on their website and the iPhone/Android game, which somewhat decent but essentially boiled down to the worst-case scenario of what a freemium game can be. Plus, if the sales of Rayman Origins are anything to go by, a game further diluted to the demographic of bronies is likely not going to sell well.

The Fighting is Magic game is a very unfortunate loss. It's being retooled to incorporate Lauren Faust's original characters, but essentially it is not a MLP:FiM game. A pony kart game is in development, and we can only hope Hasbro is not going to try and stop it.

Interestingly enough, I plan on making a 3D Legend of Zelda game with Rainbow Dash as the main character. I'm going to ponify Twilight Princess and get permission from both Hasbro and Nintendo, although I seriously doubt that they'll allow me to finish.

Well, at least, that was what I was PLANNING on doing. Now that I've seen this photo, I'm reconsidering asking you to help me create Equestria Origins (or whatever sounds appropriate.)

Me and some stream regulars contemplated making a game but we quickly realized what a daunting task it is. The post you replied to is highly speculative and I doubt we get Hasbro to back us or that we'd be able to use the UbiArt engine. Of course, it's possible to write an engine from scratch, but I doubt it would be as good as the UbiArt engine. For this to work, you need a dedicated dev-team, and I don't even have time to draw the things I want to draw, let alone make all the sprites and graphics for such a game. And really, it's not the first time someone asks me to help develop a game.

Would you be willing to let us base the pony sprites off of this drawing?

Sure, it's derived from the Rayman Origins art style, anyways.

I watched an LP of this game awhile ago (because I can't afford to buy a console). I was looking up pony anatomy tutorials and stumbled upon this. My first reaction was "No. NO. DID THEY REALLY JUST. THIS-IS-THE-SINGLE-GREATEST-THING-IHAVE-EVER-SEEN." This is insanely amazing! I just . . . the game . . . and ponies . . . and then the music . . . I just can't. I can't.

Perhaps now is a good time to mention that Rayman Origins is now available on Stream, and probably cheap as hell. Not sure if Rayman Legends is going to make it to Steam, though.
