Another anatomy/action pose study, this time featuring Pinkie Pie as an excuse.
...
Alright, there's a little bit of back-story to this one, don't worry. Basically I was listening to Mario Galaxy music, which has some of the most epic music ever put in a video game featuring a goddamn plumber, and eventually I came to draw the classic character-turns-quickly-after-running-at-full-speed pose. Also, I haven't drawn humanized Pinkie in quite some time, especially when it comes to a full-body shot.
I like to think these recent humanizations are a huge improvement over those I did for my entry into pony art, you know, my take on those ponies. To me, it certainly looks more correct, though people (and for... probability sake, mostly girls) have complained about the outfit I designed for her. To me, Pinkie's always been on the fringe between practical and girly, so my design features a flowing skirt, light pants and a short-sleeve shirt. Easy to put on, practical and pink.
Enough ramblings, enjoy.
EDIT: Some of you pointed out the error in her left hand, it should be correct now. In a way it was already correct, but only when the hand is twisted very awkwardly. This flows a lot better.
uhm...I...I kinda used this as a pose reference and it looks kinda similar and I don't know if I can upload it or not.. I would credit you if I did of course, but...I dunno...could I?
Of course you can (though I appreciate you asking for it).
But if you really want to get better at action poses, study anatomy first. Really try to understand the shapes and how the work in all dimensions. I have a folder in my favorites devoted entirely to anatomy tutorials hosted right here on deviantART.
You're not the only one, when it comes to Pinkie, and only Pinkie, the lipstick seems to hit a nerve with some people.
To me, the lipstick is an ideal "tacky" symbol for girlishness, which Pinkie certainly embodies. Perhaps this conflicts with some views that focus more on her wacky shenanigans. In any case, aside from Rarity, she is the only one who I actually designed to wear lipstick.
itsjustthispictureissoamazingandidontevenihadtotryitandicouldnthelpit...y'know?

and I will check out the anatomy tutorials, they will probably be very useful
