Artists that gradually evolve and acquire new skills as they keep drawing, I say!
Silliness aside, while Cheerilee was kind of experimental, the shading in this one isn't much different than Chick Flick or even Artrix's take on those ponies. Perhaps it's more a case of me getting a better grasp of where to put the shading.
Still, it's nice to see that the progress is noticeable.
exactly ^.0 and that's what interests me. same as re-doing stuff, i noticed you made twily more slim in your latest compared to the one you tagged here. (such a shame i couldn't properly watch that stream). i like artists that keep improving and that are open to new experiences. good job on fluttersy's hair too!
perhaps that's why i quit watching Johnjoseco, he gets dull after a while... but that's my opinion XD
When I did Artrix's take on those ponies I was doing female anatomy completely wrong. After the feedback I set out to improve my anatomy skills and I'd say it's paying off. Once you know anatomy, you can choose to simplify it, not the other way around. This is why my current Twilight has a more feminine figure.
John's a good guy, obviously knows his craft, but yes, his work tends to be same-face-y. Really liked his earlier pony works, but when it comes to humans, it all seems to be the same, with a few exceptions. This is why I check his work every now and then.
